i remember one of my physics teachers in outram secondary saying this, "mathematics is the study of patterns." and, at that point of time, being a typical 15 year old, i was shocked. almost like the mas selamat has escaped from the prison kind of shock. even until today, i sort of understood the logical point of view, yet it's something i do not want to agree with; it just makes everything so much more complicated, no?

however, i shall follow on the belief that "mathematics is the study of patterns", because i have sort of witnessed certain things that puzzled me quite a bit. and what i witnessed also proves the fact that if mathematics is the study of patterns, then mathematics is everything. or maybe you can make this statement biconditional, yea, the iff type of statements. anyway, i shall not complicate you further with my lack of knowledge in math and grammar; i'll go straight to the point.

first of all, hospital. yea, within one month, i came across 4 people that ended up hospitalised. my grandma tripped and fell at home, and broke her thigh bone. fiona had swollen lymph nodes. yong teng's mom broke her fingers when the door slammed on them. ian's grandfather also tripped and cracked his skull.

second, computers. within a couple of weeks, 2 computers crashed. first, it was my laptop, which could be a blessing in disguise because it was during the exam period. and then my desktop got fried today. my father was theorizing about how it could be caused by a super duper unlucky cockroach. like how somehow that cockroach could find itself part of a circuit that was not meant to be there, hence short circuit. anyway, that's not the point, but it's quite amazing how i can lose my main source of entertainment within a couple of weeks.

too much for coincidence eh?
